Day 4 and I think I am doing well so far. I feel like a little too well. Is this a calm before the storm? I have had a little nauseousness, but not much, and I think that I am doing great so far. I have explosive diarhea, but I think I read that goes with the territory post op. I have been doing great not eating and drinking together, and I can tell when it is time for me to put the fork down. I found these lemon flavor packets that you can put in to tea and stuff, and it taste like real lemon. I am a little hooked on them right now. lol I have found that room temperture goes better for me then warm or cold. But all in all, that is it. Anyone have words of wisdon for me? I would love them!!

Listen to your body. And if something makes you nauseaus today, wait a week, 2 weeks, then try it again.

The poop issues continued for a couple years for me. I'd be constipated one week, opent he flood gates the next.

By any chance do  any of your liquids have sugar alcohols in them?

I was downing Ritas Sugar Free Italian Ice and all of a sudden had the mad runs and low and behold posted on here and found out that it was the sugar alcohols doing it to me.

If you haven't had the sugar alcohols...be careful if you do

Been drinking Tea with splenda, and Crystal lite Iced tea, and Strwberry Lemonaide. But that is what did it for me. SO I am just drinking the hot tea room temp with Spelenda.

in the beginning i my tummy didnt like cold either. the explosive diarreah is something i didnt experience, i went the other way with a bout of constipation. rest, relaxation and listening to your body are definatley keys to success.

seems like your on the right track!

goodluck!

Hi Renee and a belated welcome to the loser's bench!

Everything you're going through is pretty much normal - some people experience diarrhea, others, constipation.  Just make sure you keep yourself as hydrated as possible.

As far as the liquids - for about the first 9 months, I couldn't do plain water and absolutely couldn't do ice cold - room temp worked for me.  I like the True Lemon packets, too - and they come in lime and orange, as well.

As far as the egg, well, MANY of us have problems with eggs initially - don't know why that is, except that, especially scrambled, the "texture" doesn't agree with our pouch.  If you're eating it scrambled, cook it softer than normal when you try it again.  While you're learning what foods work and what don't, it's also helpful to keep a journal.  Eggs didn't work now, but give them a shot in another 2-4 weeks.  Even at almost 5 years post-op, I still have things that like me one day, but not the next.  Go figure.

Just hang in there - the first 6 weeks or so are the toughest, but you'll do fine!!  Just focus on your liquids and get your protein in first - and walk!

Hugs,

Tia
